Today’s a big day in European racing, as some of Europe’s best will square off in the Juddmonte International Stakes. It’ll go as race 4, as part of a six-race card over at York Racecourse.
We’ve got Stephen Wong (@sw064351) here to provide FREE picks & analysis of all six races! We thank Stephen for sharing his thoughts on the card. Be sure to give him a twitter follow when you can!
First post is scheduled for 1:55 PM British time. Take it away, Stephen!
Race 4: No. 4 Barney Roy
Race 1: No. 1 Out Do
INDIVIDUAL RACE SELECTIONS
SYMPHONY GROUP HANDICAP
Race 1: 1-7-8
OUT DO should be forgiven for his run at Ripon on the weekend as he was held up. He fought on well to hold on in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot and he’s a dual course and distance winner. Each-way claims despite the stable jockey siding with EDWARD LEWIS, who was always going to be up against it with the difficult draw in the Stewards’ Cup. HOOF IT gave a great sight last time and should be kept safe.
TATTERSALLS ACOMB STAKES
Race 2: 4-6-10
DEE EX BEE was impressive on debut at Goodwood when leading throughout and will take some beating here. JAMES GARFIELD ran with distinction behind Expert Eye in the Vintage Stakes and warrants consideration despite the distance query. WELLS FARHH GO next one in.
BETWAY GREAT VOLTIGEUR STAKES
Race 3: 3-5-8
CRACKSMAN rates highly following his third in the Epsom Derby where he tracked a solid tempo and runner-up effort in the Irish Derby. This is an easier assignment. KHALIDI was no match for Crystal Ocean at Goodwood but his prior run in the King George VII was excellent. He debuts for a new yard. VENICE BEACH next one in.
JUDDMONTE INTERNATIONAL STAKES
Race 4: 4-6-3
BARNEY ROY was just beaten by ULYSSES in the Eclipse but has a great chance to turn the tables as the flat track here should help his stride. Epsom Derby runner-up CLIFFS OF MOHER was badly hampered in that race can bounce back.
FINE EQUINITY HANDICAP
Race 5: 9-17-15
MAGIC CIRCLE drops back in distance after failing to see out the Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot. A repeat of his Chester Cup effort will see him go close. EUCHEN GLEN has shown ability this season and received just 1lb rise in the ratings following his Shergar Cup win. THEYDON GREY best of the rest.
Race 6: 7-6-11
TATHMEEN was dominant on soft ground at Newbury and should be included among the main chances. GREEN FORTUNE held on well in a novice stakes at Chelmsford City last outing and the runner-up in that race has on gone to win since. SAVALAS rises in distance following a novice stakes win at Thirsk and can factor with a light weight.
