The party’s in full-swing at Tampa Bay Downs, they’ve got a ten-race card today, and we’ve got Elaine Daniels (@edan1962) providing free picks & analysis in her second season of handicapping on Danonymous Racing.
We encourage you to give Elaine a follow on twitter; she’ll be providing analysis of the great racing at Tampa Bay all meet long.
Take it away, Elaine!
RACE 1 – Maiden Claiming $15,000, F&M 3&up, 7 Furlongs
5 – Phoenix Rising (9-5) – Shannon Uske just missed with this filly in her first Tampa race 14 days ago. The extra furlong should bring her the win.
3 – Her Grace (2-1) – This To Honor and Serve filly from the O’Connell barn comes out of the same race as the top choice. Let’s see if Morales can get her up for a piece of the action.
6 – Bridge of Sighs (4-1) – Trainer Roy Lerman’s filly has the field’s highest Timeform late pace figure. Good candidate to fill out the trifecta.
RACE 2 – Claiming $6,250, 3&up, 1 and 1/16 Miles
3 – Over the Limit (5-2) – Jorge Navarro drops in here with a gelding that is 3 for 3 at today’s distance. Bullet workout at Gulfstream Park West on November 19th
1 – South to the Sea (2-1) – Trainer Miguel Feliciano is winning dirt routes at the rate of 35%. Will be sent from the rail and battle it out up front with Navarro’s entry.
7 – Silverdollardreams (6-1) – Jesus Castanon has the mount on this colt who is three of six in the money at today’s distance. Bullet work over the Tampa dirt on December 1st.
RACE 3 – Maiden Claiming $25,000, 2yo, 6 ½ Furlongs
6 – Toss (5-2) – Class drop may be just the trick to get this Kantharos gelding into the winner’s circle.
1 – Lord Barna (7-2) – Kathleen O’Connell is 21% with first time starters when debuting in a maiden claimer. Gets Gallardo.
2 – Gitgo (6-1) – The connections bought this Bodemeister colt for $60,000 and now he’s debuting in a maiden Tampa claiming race. Bullet work on November 21st.
RACE 4 – Claiming $8,000N3L, 3&up, 7 Furlongs
4 – Catamount (7-2) – They paid $95,000 for this gelded son of Discreet Cat who has finished in the top 4 in its last 5 races.
5 – Bourbon City (6-1) – This gelded son of City Zip circled 6 wide and finished a strong 2nd at high odds in its last race.
1 – Mighty Bite (5-1) – Jockey change from Camacho to Gallardo. Stretches out second off a layoff.
RACE 5 – Allowance OC $32,000N2X, F&M 3&up, 1 and 1/16 Miles on TURF
1 – Vagabond (9-5) – Arch filly runs second off the layoff here for Shug McGaughey. Is 5 of 8 in the money at today’s distance and has consistently run very competitive Beyers.
2 – Charges (4-1) – Trainer Michael Stidham, a new face at Tampa, put four works over the Tampa dirt into this Elusive Quality filly. The distance shouldn’t be an issue. Reunites with Brian Pedroza.
6 – Felt in Pocket (9-2) – Hasn’t run since August but trainer Eoin Harty wins 26% off of similar layoffs. Gets the services of Daniel Centeno.
OFF TURF PICKS: Same.
RACE 6 – Claiming $5,000N2Y, F&M 3&up, 1 Mile and 40 Yards.
8 – Elusive Harmony (3-1) – Last out Beyer of 66 tops the field’s last out Beyers. When this Peace Rules mare wins she wins by open lengths.
7 – Kate Is a Ten (4-1) – Tops the field with $341,106 in career earnings. Her last win was earned at the $12,000 level at Saratoga in August. Two works over the track.
4 – Scorpion Aly (9-2) – Went off the post time favorite her last two races at Delaware. Drops in class.
RACE 7 – Claiming $16,000N3L, F&M 3&up, 1 Mile on TURF
1 – Kisskiss Telltell (3-1) – This filly won at Tampa in July with an above par 70 Beyer.
6 – Ten Penny Princess (5-2) – The New York bred mare came from the barn of Jeremiah Engelhart. Rigaterri is 27% with “previously trained by” horses.
5 – Sophieshardtocatch (6-1) – She’s had two decent works over the track and been in the money her last 4 races.
OFF TURF PICKS: 6-3-5
RACE 8 – Claiming $8,000N2L, F&M 3&up, 5 ½ Furlongs
7 – Formal for Me (4-1) – Navarro is 25% with new horses and 32% in claiming races. Filly won at this distance in May.
4 – Oh Kandrita (2-1) – Kathleen O’Connell filly has a 446 Tomlinson for the distance. If Ronnie Allen, Jr. gets out on the lead she could be hard to catch.
8 – Lady Gregoria (20-1) – Posse filly back in the barn of Gerald Bennett. Gets the services of Ademar Santos who is off to a great start at the meet.
RACE 9 – Starter Allowance $25,000, F&M 3&up, I Mile on TURF
6 – El Vedado (3-1) – Top turf jockey Centeno will have this Big Brown filly on the lead. She’s fast enough to keep that lead to the wire.
9 – Beechwood (5-2) – Looking for the Centeno/Gallardo exacta here. Forestry filly has the best Timeform late pace figure of 101. Hasn’t raced since March however.
2 – Na Pali Spirit (7-2) – Toss last race. This Dialed In baby earned a 70 Beyer two races back. That 70 Beyer tops the field’s 2017 Beyers. Two recent 5 furlongs and 7 furlongs works should have this filly fit.
8 – Postino’s Idol (5-1) – We’ve had two Meadowlands shippers win races on turf so far this meet. Takes a drop in class.
OFF TURF PICKS: 9-5-7
RACE 10 – Maiden Claiming $16,000, F&M 3&up, 1 Mile on TURF
4 – Bitterroot (5-2) – Last out Beyer of 59 at the Meadowlands tops the field’s lifetime Beyers. In the capable hands of Jose Ferrer.
9 – Extra Salsa (4-1) – Comes out of the same race as top choice Bitterroot. Two Step Salsa filly gets the services of Ronnie Allen, Jr.
1 – Validity (30-1) – There are no world beaters here. At 30-1 we’re willing to find out if this Factum filly will improve running her first turf mile. The best Beyer of her career (56) was earned over the Tampa turf last June.
OFF TURF PICKS: 4-10-7
