Tampa Bay Downs
The party’s in full-swing at Tampa Bay Downs, they’ve got a nine-race card today, and we’ve got Elaine Daniels (@edan1962) providing free picks & analysis in her second second of handicapping on Danonymous Racing.
We encourage you to give Elaine a follow on twitter; she’ll be providing analysis of the great racing at Tampa Bay all meet long.
Take it away, Elaine!
Leading jockey Daniel Centeno is headed south to Gulfstream Park. Antonio Gallardo will be good for a few wins but hopefully we will see a few prices today.
If you are interested check out Tampa Bay Downs’ Ten Days of Festivus Challenge at www.festivuschallenge.com. You must be registered by 10:30 a.m. (E.S.T.) on December 2nd. Winner gets $1,000.00.
RACE 1 – Claiming $8,000N2L, F&M 3&up, 1 Mile and 40 Yards
4- Hola Princess (5-2) – Gulfstream/Gulfstream Park West shippers have won nearly half of the races run thus far at the meet. Trainer Angel Lopez has healthy ROIs of $5.95 in route races and $5.53 in claiming races.
6 – Holiday Laughter (9-5) – Indiana Downs shipper by Harlan’s Holiday is taking a class drop here. His last out 55 Beyer tops the fields’ last out Beyers.
5 – Queen Sammy (9-2) – Has six races at today’s distance and has finished in the money in half of them. Has the field’s highest Timeform early pace number (106) and should fill out the trifecta.
RACE 2 – Claiming $5,000N2Y, 3&up, 6 ½ Furlongs
3- Fletcher is Golden (8-1) – Cutting back to 6 ½ furlongs should give this gelded son of Majestic Warrior some relief.
6 – Good Times Rambles (8-5) – Benny Feliciano is 25% when going route to sprint. If this Candy Ride gelding can run back to form he is the one to beat.
4 – O No Not U Again (5-1) – Dale Bennett is 27% with new horses in his barn and has top jockey Gallardo today.
RACE 3 – Claiming $16,000N2L, 3&up, 1 1/16 Mile on TURF
6 – Kitten’s Dilemma (4-1) – Toss his last two troubled starts at Monmouth. This Kitten’s Joy baby was previously in the barns of Mike Maker and Chad Brown. Leading earner in the field in 2017.
2 – Find Silver (9-2) – Dale Bennett trained gelding will be on the lead early. He’s three of four in the money at today’s distance. Gallardo has the mount.
3 – Cat Prado (3-1) – This Paddy O’Prado colt was competitive at higher levels on the Tampa turf last spring. Drops in class and should track the leaders.
RACE 4 – Claiming $16,000, 3&up, 1 Mile on TURF
6 – Odlum (6-1) – Toss his last race and look two races back where he earned an 80 Beyer at today’s one mile distance.
5 – Made in Detroit (5-2) – This gelded horse by Arch finished third to Slim Shadey in August at the Spa. If he can run back to that form he should trounce the field.
9 – Natural Order (4-1) – This Mike Dini horse won in October at the Meadowlands and has won at Tampa before.
RACE 5 – Maiden Claiming $25,000, 3&up, 6 Furlongs
7 – Toll Guard (5-2) – Two solid works over the track. Trainer Dale Bennett has a 25% win rate with maiden claimers.
8 – Nonno (9-2) – Yes It’s True gelding has twice the career races of his next competitor. He may not like winning but has lost only by a neck in two of his last three races.
5 – Toms Chuchu (8-1) – Gulfstream Park West shipper stretches out for his first try on fast dirt. Trainer Rory Miller’s horses have run in 40 sprints this year and have an ROI of $6.99.
RACE 6 – Allowance Optional Claiming $100,000, 3&up, 5 Furlongs on TURF
5 – American Sailor (3-1) – This speedy City Zip gelding picked up a nice win over a muddy course at Laurel last race. Gets back on turf where he ran a 99 Beyer in May.
7 – One Lucky Step (5-2) – This Two Step Salsa gelding hasn’t won in over a year but perhaps Gallardo can keep it close to the end. Mary Bennett is 20% at turf sprints with a $6.40 ROI.
2 – Hold On Smokey (6-1) – What can I say about this 12 year old horse except he loves to run! This race might be a little above his head, but, he’s a horse for the course.
Note: 5 is cross-entered at Gulfstream Park today. If he scratches please add the 6 Mister Nofty.
RACE 7 – Allowance Optional Claiming $16,000, F&M 3&up, 6 Furlongs
7 – Miss Lamborghini (5-1) – Ronnie Allen, Jr. teams up with trainer Kathleen O’Connell with whom he has a 19% win rate.
2 – Lady’s Island (3-1) – Bullet work on November 24th. Has a 122 Timeform early pace figure which should put her on the lead. Thus far this meet the dirt track has been very speed favoring.
6 – Simply Great (4-1) – Filly by one of the top Florida stallions Greatness. Very nice work over the track on November 25th.
RACE 8 – MSW $22,000, F&M 3&up, 1 Mile on TURF
3 – Dixie Dancer (8-1) – I’ll go out on a limb with this 8-1 Union Rags filly. Graham Motion has two horses in this race and he puts Ronnie Allen, Jr. on the speed horse. She hasn’t raced in 9 months but has been working out steadily at Fairhill Training facility.
9 – Jaunt (2-1) – Shug McGaughey’s filly won last November at Aqueduct but was DQ’d to third. She’s has some impressive races at some impressive tracks. Today could be her day with turf specialist Gallardo aboard.
10 – Discreet Dancer (8-1) – Motion’s other entry, who has a bit of a closing kick, is cutting back after a brief respite at Fairhill with barn mate Dixie Dancer. Look for her to be up for a piece of the action.
RACE 9 – Claiming $16,000, 3&up, 1 Mile on TURF
3 – Rizwan (5-1) – Trainer Dennis Ward is off to a great start at the meet. Was a close second to Regal Kitten at one mile on turf at Gulfstream Park West in October.
4 – Dream Man (4-1) – Unbridled’s Song baby was running in New York for Gary Contessa this past summer. Has excuses for his last two races. Before the last two races he was steadily running high 70 and low 80 Beyers which makes him a contender here.
5 – Regal Force (10-1) – 11 for 17 lifetime in the money at today’s distance. Gets an aggressive rider with Camacho.
Note: Should the 12 Steamboat Bill draw in he becomes a must use.
