Free Picks & Analysis — Who Do Ya Like?
Monday, July 31, 2017
It’s going to be a beautiful day at Saratoga, and there’s carryovers in both the late pick 5 and the pick 6. We’ve got Marc Verdarme (@OnTheMarcBets) providing FREE picks & analysis on all the racing. Marc’s been contributing to the site for a while, and we’ll be featuring his Saratoga analysis every Monday. Be sure to give him a follow on twitter.
Take it away, Marc!
I was gone for a minute. Now I’m back; let me hit it! It’s been a while but I am back here on Danonymous providing analysis and picks! It seems like yesterday back in 2014 when I joined Twitter, had 5 followers, and asked Dan if I could do a write up for Aqueduct. The results were great, he kept letting me write, I posted 5 IRS tickets on this site that year and the rest as they say is History.
I will be covering Saratoga on Mondays and hopefully we can pick up where we left off. It’s never too late to go home again.
.50 Pick 5 All/5/3/2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10/6,8,9,10 ($108)
We start the day with a Turf Sprint and I come right at you with a price. #3 True Charm is second off the bump and gets back to his preferred surface. You must love those races on the green last summer and this guy can fly. Look for him to try and wire this field under Ricky. #1 Bigkat and Camille can pick up the pieces late and I am against #2 Battlement winning for Juddmonte here.
.50 Pick4 1,2,3,4,5,7,10/3/2,4,6,7,8/6,8,9 ($52.50)
Another price here but I don’t think we will get the 8-1 on #5 Oiseau de Guerre. No chance at all. No. Nay. Never. He nearly won here first out last year and then ran in a Grade 3 as a Maiden and lost to Oscar Performance. The third start was on dirt; cross it out. Chad can easily fire off the bump and honestly, I can’t get over the M/L here. Anyway, #7 Now in a Drive didn’t want to go by #10 Peace Speaker last out but I will guess it was because he didn’t want to pass on his inside, up the rail. Mott will have #4 Mohican ready at a price.
Big drop here for #3 Moana who steps back from aggressive Graded Stakes efforts to sit in an Allowance here. She is by Uncle Mo, so she will get the distance and I think she buries this field. My early single.
$1 Pick3 2,4,6,7,8/6,8,9/1,4,5,7,10 ($75)
2-year olds sprinting on the dirt at the Spa, and there is no gift-wrapped pick in this one. You will have to be creative to come up with one here and I’ll take a shot with #2 Factor this at a price. I love the gate works he has had and I think Angel uses the inside post to get the lead and see if he can take them all the way. #6 Joopster will be ready for Ward; no secret. #7 Tom’s Music wants longer but can get into the Trifecta. The other Ward can factor in, as well.
Claimers sprinting on the turf to end the Pick 5 and 4, and I like a horse quite a bit. #6 Starship Wildcat, of Gulfstream fame, ships up to Saratoga from an aggressive Graded Stakes start in Philly. This guy was an absolute rocket ship in South Beach this spring, and he can take this salty field gate to wire. I think he has the lead mid-stretch and I will be praying he can last that extra 1/16th of a mile and hold off #9 Shadow Rock and #10 Padilla.
.50 Pick4 1,4,5,7,10/6/1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9/1,13,14,15* ($80) #15 is an AE*
I rarely play supers, but I garner there are some reading this that do; so this is my Super Race of the day! Yeah! Super box my top 4 and let’s see if we can score. #10 My Good Venezuela is my top choice and he hasn’t gotten a good trip in ages! This race sets up for him and I think she storms home big! #7 Morethanawarning will come, too. #5 Frosty Lady will be up front and #1 Charming Clare might be forwardly placed by Gaff and is very tactical.
Taking what they give me here with #6 Minsky Moment. He will be a big favorite and crushes here. My Late Pick 4 Single.
Another Turf Sprint and I am on #6 Epping Forest hard. He was a rocket ship for CC sprinting this Spring and I don’t think he wanted the mile last time. He cuts back here and will be rolling late. #1 Let is Ride Mom should take to the turf for Casse and Joel will be gunning early. #8 Morticia will be on the lead but I think we can run him down. #9 Lady Alexandra is good enough, but I am skeptical first time without Chad Brown.
Watch the added entries here but I will go with #13 Saratoga Colonel at a price. Follow me here…. He started off on the dirt in a MSW and ran bad. They put blinkers on and went to the turf and he ran 8th only beaten 3. The stuck with that and finished 8th by 4; both of those turf races the winner won next time out. Now they put him back on dirt, keep the blinkers, and drop in for a tag against a weak group. Got it? It all adds up to a win! Let’s go!
