Race 5: #6 Incredible Luck has run winning races in his last three and enters this event head and shoulders above his competition. His pace foe from his last is drawn directly to his outside and will force him to go once again but the cutback is huge. #2 Rmanie’s Grey Suit showed a little something on debut. It wasn’t a lot I will admit but he is much more capable than his 20-1 line will indicate. #8 Thermomopolis showed little in his last start after a fairly encouraging debut. The horse Acclamation colt is bred to route so maybe he improves around two turns.
Race 6: #4 Whiskey Ginger was exceptional on debut after completely blowing the break and spotting the field ten lengths. The Gallagher trainee closed with a rush, while just being schooled, and lands Bejarano for this. We don’t know what this horse is, or what he could be. #3 Remesses returns to the races after a year layoff immediately after his debut down the hill. Baffert’s runners are always fit off the layoff and while the drop would be troubling with any other barn, Baffert has so many runners he can run horses like this. #8 Quality Line was protected for his first start off an almost twelve-month layoff and did not disappoint. The Garcia trainee goes up the ladder in his second start and retains the seven-pound bug Roman.
Race 7: #9 Ebony Cat looked home free at the top of the stretch last time and stopped to a complete walk. That was her first start at more than 5.5f for at least a year so the stopping doesn’t bother me. She’s drawn perfectly to the outside. #8 Stately Command just wasn’t as sharp last time against better and returns to the level of her last win. She moves from the rail to the outside and no one is riding better than Bednar at night. #2 Gianis got really good there for a while but has tailed off since then. Her last was midlly encouraging so it feels like she could be sitting on a rebound run.
Race 8: In my opinion I think #8 Well Caught is worth more than 25k so her running in this spot makes me feel confident in her chances. The Zoffany filly has a very solid closing kick and catches a group with pace. Her effort two back wins this race going away.
