There’s a 9-race program today at Oaklawn Park, and we have FREE picks & analysis from Aaron Hayes (@ahaze24) of the program. Aaron filled in here on Danonymous last year, and we’re happy to have him providing picks & analysis of Oaklawn every Sunday. Give him a follow on twitter when you can.
Take it away, Aaron!
Race 1. #2 Mr. Ark. Despite trainer Danny Pish not having a win at Oaklawn yet, he’s winning at 21% when his horses drop down 2 classes. He should like stretching out in distance as well.
#4. Tour de Rock. This class dropper gets a major jockey up grade to Gary Stevens. He’ll be coming from far off the pace.
#6 J P of Galilee. Albeit he has 2 wins out of 20, he’s hit the board 50% of the time with 6 places and 2 thirds. Drops in class.
.50 Pk4. 2,4,6/2,7,10/2,6/3,5,7,10
Race 2. #2 Dreamrider. Had a nice 3f workout on March 14. Cuts back in distance and drops in class. He should be more forwardly placed this time.
#10 Speedy Dansmere. Got out and was on the lead briefly in last race. A repeat performance can easily win this maiden race.
#7 Uncle Pancho Has flashed some speed. Has a chance to be in the money.
$1 Tri box 2,7,10
Race 3. #2 Only Liquor. This class dropper should be sitting in a prime position right off the pace. Jockey Julio Felix and trainer Ingrid Mason are 11-3-2-2 in the last 14 days.
#6 Serious Talk. He’s a beaten favorite who finished 2nd. Has 10 wins out of 25 starts and has David Cabrera aboard. Great value at 10-1 morning line
. #4 Mucho Macho Dan. Gets Ricardo Santana in the irons. Finished a decent 4th in last race at 5 ½ furlongs.
$1 Tri key 2/1,3,4,6
Race 4. #7 Gi Gi’s Wildcat. Wasn’t far off the pace in last race. Some class relief will definitely help.
#5 Beat the Heat. Has early speed and ran 2nd in his last vs similar maidens.
#3 Bust a Move. Sire has 19% wins with 1st time starters.
.50 Pk3. 3,5,7/2,6,10/3,9,10,12
Race 5. #2 Patriotic American (Longshot play 12-1 ML). Will enjoy the shorter distance at 5 ½ furlongs. Trainer Danny Pish is winning at 25% with 1st after a claim and 28% with beaten favorites. Will be sitting mid pack and looking to unload down the stretch. Has 3 wins in 7 starts over the surface.
#6 Googleado. Finished 3rd vs similar in last race. Jon Court can improve with his 2nd ride
#10 Como Se Llama. Finished 2nd vs similar in last race and had a high speed rating. Has good early speed.
$10 WP #2 Patriotic American
Race 6. #9 Morning Belle. Drops in class should be sitting right off the pace.
#12 Lady Warrior. Has good early speed and cuts back in distance. This class dropper had a nice workout on March 9th and will definitely be a factor.
#10 Posse Gone Wild. Was dead last throughout and came from out the clouds to run 3rd by 1 ¼ lengths. Early speed can help this closers chances.
.50 Pk4. 3,9,10,12/3,6,8,9/7/5,6,10
Race 7. #3 Paper Covers Rock. Stalked right off the lead in last to finish a game 3rd place. Cuts back in distance from a mile to 6f. Trainer is winning 28% 1st after a claim.
#9 Like A Haint. Won last on the front end and drew away down the stretch. Has hit the board 10 out of 14 times.
#6. Council Rules. This west coast shipper 2 for 2 at Oaklawn in his career. Has hit the board 14 out of 19 times. He stretches back out to 6f
$1 Per Box 3,6,8,9
Race 8. #7 Tenfold (Best Bet 2-1) He had an extremely impressive debut win at 1 1/16 mile going wire to wire with ease. Santana never really asked him and he drew off by 5 ¾ lengths down the stretch. With a field with no early speed he’s very capable of doing the same. The combination of Santana and Asmussen is 20-7-4-3 in the last 14 days. This triple crown nominated horse has a promising future.
#6 Navistar. John Velasquez stays an extra day for his only ride of the day with this Todd Pletcher trained horse. Won his maiden 2 back but was walked off in his last. Adds blinkers today.
#1 Colour Guard. Has 2 wins in 3 starts. Will be sitting right off the leader.
$20 Win #7 Tenfold
Race 9. #6 Mr. Haney. This debut starters dam has 6 winners from 7 starters and 1 stakes winner.
#10 Into Wyoming. Ran a very solid 3rd in his debut. Drops in class and will probably be the post time favorite. Has good early speed.
#5 Dry Martini. He’ll be sitting right off the pace. And if there is a pace meltdown, he’ll have first run for the lead.
.10 Super Box 4,5,6,10,12
.50 Tri Box 4,5,6,10
