Northfield Park (Harness Racing)
Tonight, we’re taking it to Northfield Park in Ohio, where big cards and big fields are the name of the game. On this Tuesday night, we’ve got Michael Carter (@mcarte1) providing FREE picks & analysis of the pick 4 and super high 5 races.
Michael serves as the assistant director of mutuels and backup track announcer at Northfield. He’s also the co-host of the Post Time with Mike & Mike radio show, which has new episodes every Thursday night. Give Michael a follow on twitter, and be sure to check out his radio broadcasts as well.
Take it away, Michael!

Race 8: Man He Can Skoot (2) is taking a pretty big drop in class tonight and is facing much easier company. Sadly, you won’t get a ton of value here as he normally races on Mondays where times are 2-3 seconds faster sometimes. There is only one other horse that you will probably have to watch out for and that is Raiders Boy (3). He is coming off a strong third place effort against tougher company and is another that is taking a drop in class. The one thing about him is he likes to come from off the pace, so he will be able to sit behind the lead and close. If you are looking for some value to complete the exotics, Connor Hanover (5) has been very consistent against this conditioned class.
Race 9: Upfront Chip Daddy (1) is dropping down and receives some major post improvement this week drawing the rail. The nice thing about this horse is normally you can get a little bit of a price, his final ¼ times are right on point and that should play to his favor. Chad (9) was second and closing strongly after a slow beginning last week. I told myself that this horse would be worth the play at the right price. I am going to use him in the Pick 4 and hope for a good price. Mikes Majestic (4) is another receiving some post relief this week and is dropping down in class to face easier company. He doesn’t have a lot of closing speed, but could be there especially if the pace collapses.
Race 10: Rockin Indy (4) draws well again this week and has a lot of early speed which should put him prominently placed early on. The one thing I like about this horse is the amount of consistency he has. Against the lower level conditions, that is an absolute must. Tiger’s Sue (6) is another horse that is very talented and has some early speed to contend with. Against this group last week she was a very game winner, she will improve off of that. Albert A’ Scootin (3) is coming back to Northfield this week from Northville Downs in Michigan. He likes to settle in off the pace and close home a little bit, he should be on the ticket.
Race 11: Norm At Work (2) qualified decently from Post 7 on March 30. He raced very consistently towards the end of the Sire Stakes season including a second place effort at Northfield Park in a $40,000 Sire Stakes event. If he can race back to that effort he should be close to the pace especially from the inside. Peggy King (5) came first up against this class last time out and never really fired. Tonight I am hoping for a little bit better of a trip to hit the ticket. How Are Yee John (6) showed speed last week and then tired. If he can return to the form of 2016 he will definitely have a shot against this group tonight.
Race 13: True Blue Hall (7) is coming in from the East Coast for the first time tonight for trainer Kelly O’ Donnell. He doesn’t have a lot of early speed, but he has a strong closing kick and is facing some easier company tonight. Expect a strong effort. Fridaynightflight (5) has some early speed to contend with and that will definitely play to his advantage. The one thing to note is that the start last out was from the inside after two tough efforts from post eight. I am going to give this horse the nod as he looks very good on paper. Tidewater Teddy (1) is one of the more consistent horses in the group today and is moving up in class after some tough efforts from outside posts. I expect him to be close to the pace today.
