3,5/3,5,9/2,3,5,9/2,3,5,8,9/ALL – Cost: $16.00
Race 8: Archetto Hanover (1) doesn’t have a ton of early speed off the car, but he has a very big ability to come from off the pace. He draws the rail this week and that is a perfect position for him to be close to the pace and come first over. Classic Gent (3) has been very consistent against Open II and conditioned company and is taking a step up to face a little bit tougher company. He has a lot of speed to work with from the inside which should help him get to the top. Lookinforadventure (7) has been second three times against Open and Open II company and is one of the more consistent horses in the group. Expect a strong effort here, my only issue is the seconditis.
Race 9: Big Game Hunter (4) is not going to be a very big price against this class coming back to Northfield from Pocono Downs. He has some early speed, but one thing that jumps off the page is the fact he can consistently close in 28 seconds. Want to give this horse a look from post 4. Deftones (1) is finally getting some much needed post relief tonight after doing very well from outside posts. He has a little bit of speed, but likes to come from off the pace which I see him doing. Bettor’s Choice (8) is moving up in class tonight after a strong winning effort last time out. The problem is the post position on the outside. He has raced well from out here before and should provide a strong late closing kick. Milliron Pete (6) has become very consistent over the past couple of weeks. He is making a big jump in class this week, but should hit the super at a decent price.
Race 10: Palmers Pride (6), since coming to Northfield Park a few weeks back he has been decently consistent. This week he gets another tough post this week, but the consistency of this gelding is something to not look over. Like Old Times (3) has won 50% of her starts this year and she is really starting to show the speed she used to have. She has been extremely successful at Northfield Park and that home field advantage should play to her favor against the boys. Southern Palms (9) was a winner two starts back against conditioned company and last week tired late in the mile. He draws much better this week behind a little bit of early speed. Expect a good trip. Pay The Winner (1) is a horse that could very well provide some value to the superfecta from the inside. I expect at least 5/1 on him and against a competitive field, that is a decent price.
Race 11: Instant Thrill (3) has been racing very well for trainer/driver Sam Schillaci including a strong effort from post 8 last time out. He draws much better this week and is moving up in class tonight. The speed he exhibits should play to his advantage. Sammy Said (7) is another class jumper this week who has been very consistent as of late. He draws tough on the outside, but that doesn’t seem to both him too badly. Littlebitaclass (5) raced very well against lower level company from this post last time out. He is a tripped out horse and he could get that trip if Aaron gets him into position early. Pass The Deuce (2) is the question mark horse coming off a strong winning effort last time out. He has been known to hit the superfecta ticket at decent prices before, looking for that value here.
Race 13: This is a race that you are going to want to look for some value with the guarantee. World Of Gaming (5) comes in this week from The Meadows for trainer Ron Burke. He drops a little bit in class and has been known to exhibit a little bit of early speed. If he gets to the top, he may be tough to catch. Chipchompinchampin (3) has been plagued post wise in the last couple of starts. He is dropping in class this week, combined with the post improvement could make this gelding a value play tonight. Four Staces (9) is coming to Northfield for the first time for trainer Charles Downing. He draws post 9 this week behind a horse that can show speed from the inside. If Kash can get into a good spot early then he should race well. Catherine’sdiamond (2) is in first off the claim for trainer Mike Dowdall. Be careful of the price here as the horse is moving up in class from the $8,000 claimer. Two starts back he was fifth against this group. Might want to use here from the inside.
