Gulfstream Park West
7 – TRIP THE QUEEN (10/1) – Has a nice speed/stalking style that should be perfect here. Trainer Saffie Joseph is 24% at GPW and at 10/1, I’d be happy to take a swing with!
9 – FRECKLES KAN (9/2) – First off the claim for McGoey, who’s had success doing this. Another who has tactical speed, stretches out, and may be the one they’ll have to beat late!
11 – INSIDE TRIP (2/1) – From off the pace & a wide post, shortening up, I’m willing to use only defensively in my Pick 5.
7 – 9 – 11 – 13
2 – STAGE REVIEW (9/2) – A real mixed bag here with no clear cut pace scenario. Finished 3rd at 7f over at GP on the main track and comes off a pair of turf routes where she pressed the early pace. This should set her up nicely for this elongated sprint.
6 – CATILUCA (20/1) – Major rider switch should help this one get out of the gate after a pair of troubled beginnings. Ran on ok after the layoff & has the makings of a live longshot!
8 – SALSA QUEEN (5/2) – 0 for 40 maiden… enough said! You cannot put this one on top…let her beat you! I would, however, use her underneath in exotics.
7 – RUN GAL RUN (7/2) – Turning back in distance for a low percentage outfit. Possibly, but another who I would not take a low price on.
2 – 6 – 8 – 7
6 – NO CHOICE (7/2) – Not real sure what happened in a couple of his starts, but trusting Kathleen O’Connell to have this one ready to go here. Should not have much trouble making the lead if right.
3 – WHY TRUST (2/1) – Overcame a couple of slow starts and is on the improve. Just not sure about the quick turnaround here.
5 – EBRIO (5/2) – This son of Shackleford is another who appears to be moving forward. May have to settle for minor awards, but I will use all 3 in my exotics.
1 – MIAMERO (12/1) – Top trainer Gustavo Delgado cuts the price in half & switches to the dirt hoping for a wakeup.
6 – 3 – 5 – 1
9 – TONG SHU (3/1) – Should be the speed of the speed and the one they’ll all have to come get. Drops and pops!
2 – DAM LOCKS (4/1) – Turns back after 3 efforts where she pressed the pace. It looks like another 2nd place finish, but will try to break through late.
3 – ALL ABOUT HAY (5/1) – Tried maiden specials last time after an improved effort. Drops to lowest level now and is a major player here.
8 – ROSES FOR MARTINA (8/1) – 2nd start for a 2yo is a winning angle for trainer Oscar Gonzalez (19%). Should improve off that opener, and one to consider at a price.
9 – 2 – 3 – 8
6 – THE DOW (3/1) – Red hot trainer Abreu sends out this son of Exchange Rate in a realistic spot. Has faced some decent quality and coming right back after a gutsy win should not be a concern.
9 – FAST EDDIE E (8/5) – This guy has burned money in the past and I’m just not sold even on the class drop. Will use defensively in Pick 5
3 – SET ME UP (10/1) – Adds blinkers for this after pressing the pace going longer. Another who has faced better and has been competitive. Has the looks of a live longshot.
5 – TWO STEP ALPHA (15/1) – Caught in some traffic last time. Has a nice stalking style and a nice use underneath in your exotics.
14 – ON CRUISE CONTROL (6/1) – Doubtful that this one gets in, but if he does, he’s a must use!
6 – 9 – 3 – 5
2 – W W SPRINGTIME (4/1) – Improving 2yo for top trainer Scott Becker removes the blinkers & is working nicely for this. Looking to relax on the lead in his 3rd start.
3 – GEOSCIENCE (3/1) – Son of Gemoligist shows series of bullet works for Efren Loza who has great numbers with firsters. Looks like a worthy favorite.
10 – BODEXPRESS (6/1) – Gustavo Delgado & Paco Lopez team up with this son of Bodemeister out of a City Zip mare. Showing good things in the A.M. and could be a nice overlay!
2 – 3 – 10 – 1
5 – FRED’S COUNTRY BOY (8/1) – Liking the looks of this first time starter. Mike Maker excels with young horses on the grass and this one is bred to like it. Solid work tab. The price should be right.
9 – NEW YEAR (7/2) – Fipke bred 2yo adds blinkers and drops in for$35k after just missing at $50k. Should be a major player here.
6 – FUTURE TREASURE (6/1) – Improving numbers for this son of Treasure Beach who drops back down to $35k where he finished a game 2nd two back. Lasix added & the blinkers come off. In with a realistic shot at decent price.
11 – JUST WAR (4/1) – Recently gelded & takes the biggest drop in racing. Must navigate a wide post, but a win candidate non the less.
5 – 9 – 6 – 11
6 – GO GO JAK (5/2) – Broke her maiden back in August in her 2nd start for $20k in fine fashion. Has been freshened and is realistically spotted for $10k against winners for Gilberto Zerpa who is hitting at 22%. Jaramillo opts over the 4.
7 – ROSE M. (10/1) – This 3yo daughter of Big Drama drops to her lowest level after showing decent speed. Barn is better than they’ve been showing and I’m very interested in this one at 10/1 or better!
4 – SPECIAL COUNSEL (3/1) – Shortens up a bit and drops in class for this. Shows good speed and has improving numbers. My guess is that Paco will be sending and they’ll have to run her down!
8 – BLUE WHALE (4/1) – The late player in the group. If there’s a melt down up front, it won’t be a huge surprise as her numbers are very competitive.
6 – 7 – 4 – 8
5 – GAULTIER (FR) (6/1) – It’s not as big a deal these days for horses to win after being off a very long time. Vaccarezza is very good at having one ready. They certainly have taken their time with this one after he just missed in an overnighter. There’s not much speed signed on making this guy a legitimate threat. 6 – 13 lifetime!
2 – WAKE FOREST (GER) (9/5) – Almost sad to see this 8yo former Gr2 winner in for $8k. Has obviously lost quite a few steps and will most likely be overbet here.
8 – PORTER STREEET (12/1) – Back to a level below where he won last…beware! Late runner is in with a look at big price!
11 – LAYTHATPISTOLDOWN (9/2) – Will need to utilize his speed to gain position early which may cost him late but can you ever leave out a Navarro horse?
5 – 2 – 8 – 11
6 – BAMA BOUND (5/2) – Major class drop for this hard hitting Navarro trainee. 43 out of 73 in the money! Tons of speed signed on but this one has the ability to either put them all away early, or sit off a hot pace.
2 – ESCAPE VELOCITY (4/1) – When last seen on the dirt, he wired a similar group. Drops back to winning level off decent efforts and can’t be overlooked.
3 – BROWNS GAP (3/1) – Saffie Joseph re claims again and why not? 8 of 10 in the money this year. Gets in light and is a major player.
4 – TWO STEP TIME (12/1) – Been doing ok on the turf, but has to be considered here on the huge class drop and generous odds.
6 – 2 – 3 – 4
9 – TONY (3/1) – Should find these a whole lot easier than the group he’s been chasing. Solid numbers on the drop means it’s now or never.
6 – INFAMY (6/1) – Casse runner has been stretching his speed farther each time out. Today could be the day he doesn’t look back!
1 – BRAG DUDE (8/1) – 0 for 20 maiden has had numerous chances and burned some money along the way. Figures to give Infamy company early but probably won’t stick around (again.)
4 – EPIC LOVE (5/2) – Folded early last time. Would be nice to see if he could harness just a little of that speed and make one run. Doubt this will be that time!
9 – 6 – 1 – 4
