Free Picks & Analysis — Who Do Ya Like?
Wednesday, January 18, 2017
On this Wednesday at Danonymous, we’ve got FREE Turf Paradise picks & analysis from Rob MacLennan (@RobMacASD)!
Rob served as the track handicapper at Assiniboia Downs, near Winnipeg, over the summer, and we’re happy to have him as part of the Danonymous Racing crew. He’ll be providing analysis of the racing at Turf Paradise all winter long.
Take it away, Rob!
Race 1: Selection: #1 Sedona Sunrise (7/5 ML). Dropping out of the Arizona Bred Futurity where he ran second to a very nice Yo Y Me who came back to win the open Lost in the Fog Juvenile. This field doesn’t measure up to him and I think he can get a good stalking trip down on the inside and with the drop in class this is his race to lose.
$0.50 Early Pick 4 play 1/1,3,4,5/1,2,3,6,7/2,5,11 $30
Race 2: Selection: #6 Deadly Black Eagle (6/1 ML). His win on July 15th here at ASD was about the best performance we had all year. He battled and put away good older sprinters handily. He’s had some time off because there was no races for him here in Winnipeg so now he’s coming back going five furlongs. Mysterious Storm is turning around very quick off a huge effort and that could be a tough ask. If I can get this price I’ll take a shot on the very game Deadly Black Eagle.
Race 3: Selection: #1 Family Rules (20/1 ML). Total wide open bottom maiden girls going 6 ½. Family Rules made her first turf paradise start a level above this; she rushed up wide, battled before fading. Now she comes back with a work in between and could be the inside speed on the drop against an unremarkable field. She’s a total flyer longshot, but she could wake up, it would not take much.
Race 4: Selection: #2 Bistro Lights (10/1 ML). NW3L boys going long on the grass. Most of the major players drew outside posts for this. Throw out Bistro Lights last race on the dirt he was impacted at the break and the top 3 snuck away. His recent Turf Paradise turf form is very live in here though. Add in the fact you add leading rider Scott Stevens to the mix for a barn without a win and that he never rides for and this could be a live player.
Race 5: Selection: #8 Lazy Daisy May (4/1 ML). Dropping in class out of $10,000 claimers into this Starter optional, she gets a lot of speed to run at. Each race this year has gotten progressively better now she drops in and looks to win. With the abundance of speed she could get a really nice set up. Also she gets a full six furlongs today.
$0.50 Late Pick 4 3,8/4/ALL/5,8,9 $36
Race 6: Selection: #4 Unstoppable Colby (3/1 ML). Dropping from $20,000 into 10,000 Colby gets a major bit of class relief. He has good races at a mile and he should sit up close in here. The races in between 10 and 20 haven’t gone consistently so he drops in here and looks to win and most likely be claimed.
Race 7: Selection: #12 She Spends My Lute (3/1 ML). I take this filly because I think she’s the best horse in the race, and since I am taking all in the pick 4 the favorite is the horse to bet. She’s in a terrible post, she always finds ways to get in really miserable traffic trouble but her best efforts win this race. I think she’s the most likely winner, but any of the 12 could win this race and it would not surprise me in the slightest.
Race 8: Selection: #5 Big Shorty (4/5 ML). Invader from California for a high percentage barn who uses one of the main riders. Should show speed, takes a massive plunge, will be a tiny price but this kind normally win in Phoenix. I used two others in P4 because if this guy gets beat it will pay box cars.
