Free Picks & Analysis — Who Do Ya Like?

Danonymous Racing goes to the desert on Tuesday, as we’ve got FREE Turf Paradise picks & analysis from Rob MacLennan (@RobMacASD)!
Rob served as the track handicapper at Assiniboia Downs, near Winnipeg, over the summer, and we’re happy to have him as part of the Danonymous Racing crew. He’ll be providing analysis of the racing at Turf Paradise all winter long.
Take it away, Rob!
Race 1: Selection: #5 Detail (8/5 ML). This filly makes her Turf Paradise debut but exits some tough races in New York. She was beaten only 4 ¾ lengths in an open $25,000 claimer at Belmont in October. She shows two works at Turf Paradise and hits a spot she should be very tough in. Her races from this past summer will win this race and she should sit in behind the speed and have a big chance to run the field down at a short price.
Suggested $0.50 Pick 4 Play: 5,6/1,2,3,6,7,810/1,4/2,8 $28
Race 2: Selection: #8 Gowithgrace (6/1 ML). First time starter in a wide open race. 26% barn, that is 2 for 6 with first timers. Rider and jockey team up at 50% and gowithgrace debuts on Lasix as a homebred. Nothing too spectacular in the morning but she would not have to be much to win this race.
Race 3: Selection: #4 Wannablikegrandpa (5/1 ML). Claimed in the last start for $8,500 and now is placed in an allowance race. Should get a good stalking trip after losing a step out of the gate last time and coming up short late. Blinkers are added and now this 3-year-old makes his second start off the bench. A number of these competitors came out of the same race on Nov 28th and it wasn’t the most impressive affair, so I wanted to go against.
Race 4: Selection: #8 Thunder (4/1 ML). This 1 1/8 turf event figures to go to a horse who wants the distance such as Thunder. Last time he closed into a race that didn’t really collapse, now he gets an extra furlong and should have a pace to run at. He figures to compete with these and his races in early 2016 would make him a winner if he can return to that form. This race kicks off the pick 5 with a carryover of $10,852. I am going to use a couple horses on my pick 5 ticket here however as it is a slightly tricky affair.
$0.50 Pick 5 Play: 2,4,7,8/1,4,7/1,9/3,6/3,9 $48
Race 5: Selection: #4 Steamnstone (6/1 ML). Drops out of some tougher races and makes the third start off a year layoff. Chased another speed horse in Peppermint Kitty and now only has to go 4 ½ furlongs and could be the speed of the race. Hopefully she can hold off Mystical Prize late.
Race 6: Selection: #1 Northern Contract (6/1 ML). Have been waiting for Northern Contract to run back after a traffic filled trip in a race he had no shot in against very hast horses in Five Seasons and Sorullo. Now he should move forward off the race and this is a level he can certainly compete with. I have been waiting on him but I didn’t expect to see him in against Okaad. Okaad might get an absolute dream setup in this race and be the best horse, which makes him very tough to beat.
Race 7: Selection: #3 Domino Johnson Invades from Southern California for the Jeff Matz barn. He has a couple of okay races on the grass and now gets a drop with his ship over to Turf Paradise. I really didn’t like this race but thought he was worth a play on the change of locations. Shock the Clock is a contender but he is hard to love with his affinity for finishing around the money.
Race 8: Selection: #3 Hidden Gun (3/1 ML). Rider has had issues in both Turf Paradise starts. Look for him to be the inside speed, he gets a cut back in distance and he should have a big part to say in the outcome.
