Race 1- AOC 6 1/2 F Downhill Turf
# 10 Incensed ML 5/2
# 4 Tiz a Billy ML 3/1
# 9 Lindante ML 15/1
#10 Incensed is coming in off of two stakes races down in Florida with a less than average jockey in my opinion, and gets more distance than his usual 5F races, in which he could enjoy, based off of his last two closing efforts and his possible current form. #4 Tiz a Billy, can do some running at this course. His only two starts on this downhill turf course were a 2nd by a nose and a winning effort in which he won by 6 furlongs. If the conditions call for an off turf type of race, #4 can still be effective on the dirt. # 9 Lindante has also done very well on the downhill turf course. Of course these races were not recent and were back in May of 2016, but they were solid efforts nonetheless. Hopefully he returns to that form today.
Off Turf= 4-1-9-10
Race 2- MCL 6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt
# 4 Jeoffie ML 4/1
# 3 Latina Mo 6/5
# 1 Avaudrey ML 4/1
I think #4 Jeoffie is the best filly in this field. There seems to be enough speed in this field where she can sit just off of it and make a run, which is what would be ideal for her. #3 Latina Mo, seems to hang at the wire to much and cost herself some wins as of late. I think she is untrustworthy at 6/5 ML, but I think this field is too weak for me not to make her a threat as well. #1 Avaudrey is going to be on the lead early, and with the 10 pound bug, I think he might be able to go gate to wire, depending on how tough Evin Roman is and possibly he breaks his maiden here too.
Race 3- MSW 1 M Dirt
# 5 Magic Miracle ML 5/2
# 2 Magical Mystery ML 2/1
# 6 Pappou ML 5/1
#5 Magic Miracle, started off slow in his debut, and rallied strongly up the rail for 3rd, but ran out of room. I think the extra distance and the race under his belt will be towards his benefit today. That 87 speed figure was not too shabby either. #2 Magical Mystery has done very well in this class range and at this distance. He has been on a layoff since August of last year but I think the work on Feb 1st and the trainers numbers off this type of layoff are promising. #6 Pappou is a horse I have used underneath in the last two starts he has had. He ran 3rd each time at 10/1 and 2/1. I think you will get odds somewhere in the middle of those two, and another in the money finish.
Race 4- San Vincente Stakes G2 7 Furlongs Dirt
# 4 Battle of Midway ML 7/5
# 5 Iliad ML 9/5
# 1 Law Abidin Citizen ML 6/1
#4 Battle of Midway impressed me in his debut, and gets Mike Smith today instead of Van Dyke who is out with an injury, but I think Smith will be better suited for him, since he has that Hall of Fame mentality. #5 Iliad ran huge in his maiden win, and gets Bejarano today and gets a little more distance. I think his number came back better than #4 only because he faced weaker. #1 Law Abidin Citizen, ran well in his last start, and won but his number came back a lot weaker than the most likely top two.
Race 5- Sweet Life Stakes 6 1/2 Furlongs Downhill Turf
# 1 Hot in the City ML 4/1
# 6 Miss Sugars ML 7/2
# 9 Sandy’s Surprise ML 4/1
#1 Hot in the City, seems to my favorite horse in this field. With Prat riding on fire as of late, and the horse being clear at 5F, and getting 6 1/2 today makes me think the extra distance should be helpful. #6 Miss Sugars, is cutting back in distance and stays among classy company. Yet when he ran in England, he ran at this distance and did well. #9 Sandy’s Surprise has ran well at a shorter distance, and ran well at 1M but I think this distance can be beneficial.
Race 6- MSW 6 Furlongs Dirt
# 1 Sheza Chattykat ML 7/2
# 3 Selcourt ML 5/2
# 5 Lyrics ML 7/2
#1 Sheza Chattykat, is the only horse in this field that has ran before. It was a troubled trip with her breaking slow and then being steadied and the halfway mark and at 3/8 pole. With the bullet work on Feb 10th, I think she is gonna be a lot better here. #3 Selcourt, looks to be the best horse out of the FTS. She is not bred that impressively. But with the impressive workouts, I think she can run well. #5 Lyrics, a filly by Speightstown and Embur’s Song by Unbridled’s Song, she has class and very good connections. Also being bought as a yearling for $475,000, so someone must of seen something in her.
Race 7- MCL 6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt
# 6 No Spin Zone ML 5/2
# 8 Princess Bella ML 7/2
# 7 Aura Rose ML 2/1
#6 No Spin Zone, ran well in her last start and seemed to want more distance and could still be learning and improving. With a journeyman like Elliot aboard, expect improvement. #8 Princess Bella, seems to want a mile or more, but the cut back down to 6 1/2 seems to possibly work today. #7 Aura Rose, seems to be on the early lead today and if that is the case, maybe he can pull of the wire to wire finish or sit a perfect trip. We will see.
Race 8- Claiming 1 Mile Turf
# 12 Liar’s Smoker ML 9/2
# 1 Warren’s Jen Fizz ML 4/1
# 11 Flamingo Lane ML 7/2
#12 Liar’s Smoker has been on a layoff since September, and comes to West Coast. I think the form he was in before the layoff is beyond enough to win today. I just am concerned the layoff is going to affect her today. #1 Warren’s Jen Fizz, seems to like this distance, and seems to be capable to run at this given distance, so I think you should use her today. #11 Flamingo Lane, needs to return to the form in 2015 to contend today, but I think it is possible. The connections seem to be beneficial today,
Race 9- Claiming 5 1/2 Furlongs Dirt
# 3 Aloha Ke Akua ML 3/1
# 4 Goliath’s Girl ML 4/1
# 2 Moonie ML 7/2
#3 Aloha Ke Akua is my top selection in the nightcap. She has ran well before her time on the shelf however that could be problematic today. #4 Goliath’s Girl was in my top selections last week, but ran less than stellar. However, the 10 pound bug should help out and maybe she can return to her form two back. #2 Moonie, is going to be the speed here or should be close to it. The return to the distance she likes, I think she can run big today.
