On Tuesday, we’re headed out to ROYAL ASCOT for a very special edition of FREE PICKS & ANALYSIS from our international handicapper Stephen Wong (@sw064351).
We thank Stephen for sharing his thoughts today. For the past few years, he has put together analysis for Danonymous Racing at just about every major racing carnival from the Melbourne Cup to the Dubai World Cup. We look forward to following along this week, as Stephen shares his insights at Royal Ascot.
Be sure to give him a follow on Twitter when you get a moment. Take it away, Stephen…
Race 4: No. 1 Awtaad
Race 6: No. 13 Kananee
INDIVIDUAL RACE SELECTIONS
QUEEN ANNE STAKES
Race 1: 6-4-12
ENDLESS DRAMA was runner-up to Gleneagles in the Irish 2000 Guineas last season and he kept on well behind BELARDO when resuming in the Lockinge, a race which has produced six of the last nine winners. Fitter now and can turn the tables. ERVEDYA is a top class filly who won the Coronation Stakes here last year and must be respected.
Race 2: 2-1-16
CARAVAGGIO was a comfortable winner of the Marble Hill Stakes at The Curragh last time and on pedigree he should have little problem with the extra distance. Hard to beat. BROKEN STONES showed ability when winning his debut at York and third place finisher Masham Star has won since. THUNDER SNOW best of the rest.
KING’S STAND STAKES
Race 3: 20-18-14
MECCA’S ANGEL broke through for her first Group One success last season when she outsprinted Acapulco in the Nunthorpe and will relish the soft ground here. WAADY and PROFITABLE the dangers.
ST JAMES’S PALACE STAKES
Race 4: 1-7-6
AWTAAD was a dominant winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas last outing and can make it five on end with the sting out of the ground. There was plenty of merit to THE GURKHA’s Poule d’Essai des Poulains win but this looks a tougher assignment. GALILEO GOLD next one in.
Race 5: 19-3-7
GALIZZI produced a dominant display in his first flat run in 20 months when scoring at Goodwood for a new stable and will take plenty of beating in this. SILVER CONCORDE and NO HERETIC were both excellent in the Chester Cup which stands them in good stead here.
WINDSOR CASTLE STAKES
Race 6: 13-15-20
KANANEE fought on strongly last time in a Novice Stakes at York to win in smart time under a big weight, and the runner-up from that race has franked the form since. Each-way in an open race. MISTER TRADE and TOMILY the dangers.
