We’re headed back out to Gulfstream Park, where we’ve got FREE PICKS & ANALYSIS from returning guest handicapper Matt Pappis (@MPapps). Matt has tackled today’s huge Late Pick-4 Sequence, ending in the Donn Handicap!
Matt is a horse owner and handicapper who really knows his stuff. You can find more of his selections and writing at Trackside View.
Best of luck to everyone playing along! Take it away, Matt…
50 cent play
4,8,9,13/ 3,7,10/1,2,6/2,4,8 = $54
4,8,9,13/7/1,2,6/2,4,8 = 27
I will be playing both these tickets, as it is very likely that Race Day is going to win the Fred Hooper and I want to have a ticket with him multiple times.
Race 10: Grade III Suwannee River Stakes
Pink Poppy (9): Ran her best race since breaking her maiden in May of 2014. Would like to see another step forward here but 12-1 is fair price in a wide open affair.
White Rose (13): Has really started to show how could she could be in her past few starts , she steps forward again here she is going to be tough to beat.
Sandiva (8): Has not run a poor race since coming to America , she finally picked up a win in the US in her last start.
Starstruck (4): When she shows up she can beat anyone in this field , the problem is she doesn’t always like to show up.
Race 11: Freddy Hooper Grade III
Confrontation (3): His last was visually impressive only running a step behind Lea who will be a heavy favorite in the Don.
Valid (10): Has only run out of the exacta once at Gulfstream park, dangerous here again with a class relief.
Race Day (7): Very impressive winner last out , when you take into account that he beat the runner up by 8 ½ lengths and then he came back to win the Sunshine Millions Classic.
Race 12: Gulfstream Park Turk Handicap Grade I
Mshawish (1): Each race since coming to America has gotten better , he is far and away the one to beat here.
War Correspondent (6): Impressed me when stepping up into the Grade II Autumn stakes in only his second start in America. He is dangerous at a big price.
Amen Kitten (2): If the race breaks down hell be flying late to get the money.
Race 13: Donn Handicap Grade I
Commissioner (2): Came back after a long layoff to run 3rd in a prep for this spot. It was a good field but I do not believe he was fully cranked for this spot. He should be ready to roll today.
Lea (4): I don’t like to eat chalk but you have to use this horse in this situation , his past 3 over this track have been sensational and this is not necessarily a field of killers.
Protonico (8): Ran second in the Clark handicap to a Hoppertunity which I have been very high on since last years derby but he likely needed a break after a very tough summer and fall campaign. He will be ready to roll.
