We’re headed back out to Gulfstream Park, where we’ve got FREE PICKS & ANALYSIS from returning guest handicapper Matt Pappis (@MPapps).
Matt is a horse owner and handicapper who really knows his stuff. You can find more of his selections and writing at Trackside View. Best of luck to everyone playing along! Take it away, Matt…
Afleet Accompli (1): High percentage play in this spot, Navarro 31% first off the claim should win this one with ease.
Latent Fire (6): Second choice and the one they will likely be chasing when they turn for home.
Slicka (7): Has run some decent races in this past for this level. Don’t see him as a win candidate but could be there to help fill out some exotics.
Broadway Zen (9): Coming out of a live race and taking a major drop here. There is not much speed in this race. Let’s hope Edgar realizes the lack of speed here and takes them gate to wire.
Ziggy the Great (8): Our pick last out at this level and, while he might have not won, had he not steadied in the stretch he would have likely hit the board.
Classy Kid (10): Another in here taking a drop in class. It’s always good to see the leading jock stay aboard when he’s getting his pick of the litter.
Happy Harvey (7): Ran his best race since October last out and I’m hoping he can build on that to take down the top two choices here.
D N A Approved (8): The one to beat and catch with the lack of speed in this field.
Silver Shot (3): Ran his best race to break his maiden and then was pulled up in his last start. He drops to a more realistic level and is a good value at 15-1 if he can return to form.
Sweet Cup ( 5): If she is able to run any of her Woodbine races from 2013 she is a major player. Not overly concerned with the poor showing on the 18th, she might have needed one and was given the proper break to be strong in this spot.
This Quay House (4) : Has not run a poor race for this level since he caught the slop back in September. She has every right to be right there as they turn for home.
Double Desert (6): Takes a drop in class but Javier jumps aboard. She is another player in a race I’m viewing as wide open.
River Date (6): Had a rough trip last out coming into the turf 5 wide but showed that did not bother him. He should step forward again.
Frenchman Bay (2): Ran into a freak last out but showed improvement with the new connections, is a very logical player.
Jambles (8): Todd second out can’t get beat by him the way he has been rolling.
Sanad (8): Horrible post last out off a long layoff. He will be the one they have to beat today.
Ebreeq (1): Kiaran very good off the layoff and picks up Lasix for a horse that hasn’t shown much. He is now in with much cheaper.
Amazon King (6): Very short price in his past two and ran nowhere to be found. The drop should help.
Royal Stage (11): Her past two have been rained off the turf where they have wanted her all along. This is her race to lose with all the pace in the race.
Starship Tammy (12): A good amount of pace presence in here. She should sit run off them and get first crack when they turn for him.
Jersey Life (4): There is a lot of pace but she looks like the one they will all be chasing.
Totzke (11): Last race he finally put it all together. If he keeps trending in the right direction 12-1 is a steal.
Tiz Town (1): With many first time starters in this race he is one of the more consistent ones that has to be used.
Araqueel ( 6): Looks like he could be a runner and have to respect the connections but will be bet if hes ready to go. Watch the board for him and the other firsters to see who gets the early money.
El Chivo Viejo (3): Cheap horses don’t like to pass other horses. Let’s hope they don’t pass him today.
Charlie’s Pinic (5): His better races make him a steal at 8-1
Tenth Star (6): He does have a win over the track and if the race breaks down he could be there to pick up the pieces at 20-1.
Merry Meadow (4): Has been in top form for some time now and the break was just what she needed. This race sets up well for her and is hers to lose.
Wildcat Lily (5): Paco elected to ride More Than a Party (1) but I like this one coming into the race and is a good value play at 5-1.
More Than a Party (1): They’ll have to catch this sharp horse today.
I’m Already Sexy (3): Her better races might be behind her but a good race here is good enough to win.
Runway Ready (6): Loves the Gulfstream green and the sprints looked like tune-ups for this spot.
Kitty Wine (8): Was not used to being so far back. She should sit a little closer this time and be tuff to turn back at the wire.
Saham (1): Doubt you will see 8-1 at the window. This one is supposed to be on the turf and tossed the jock in his only turf attempt.
Force the Pass (8): Has showed something in the mornings on the turf, one of many in a wide open final race on the card.
Farz (9): Kiarans horses have been running well lately and his first time starters have been ready to run. It should be no different for him here.
