On Sunday, we’re headed back out to Del Mar, where we’ve got FREE PICKS & ANALYSIS from our friend and returning handicapper Stephen Wong (@sw064351).
We thank Stephen for sharing his thoughts today. We’re also excited to announce that Stephen will be sharing his picks and analysis on DanonymousRacing.com every Sunday during the Del Mar meet! Let’s get started. Take it away, Stephen…
#8 Sweet Profit 5-2
#1 Keezheekoni 3-1
#6 Nazareth 12-1
#8 Sweet Profit was entitled to weaken last time after tracking a solid tempo and should prove hard to beat down in grade and back in distance. #1 Keezheekoni will give them plenty to catch with the gun draw and has Rafael Bejarano engaged. #6 Nazareth has been training well on dirt and an improved showing wouldn’t surprise.
#4 Desert Steel 5-2
#2 Summer Wine 7-2
#1 Codacious 3-1
#4 Desert Steel has been luckless at both her starts this preparation and arguably should have finished closer last outing had she not been bumped. #2 Summer Wine drew away for a comfortable score on debut at Golden Gate and can measure up here. #1 Codacious is untried on the turf but she is drawn well and will be running on late.
#1 Light Striker 7-2
#8 Dublin Dancer 5-1
#3 Sheza Eyeopener 4-1
#1 Light Striker failed to beat a runner home in starter allowance grade last time at Los Alamitos but she stuck on well enough to make her competitive here. #8 Dublin Dancer is better suited over the mile and her pedigree suggests she should relish the dirt. #3 Sheza Eyeopener next one in.
#7 War Destiny 5-2
#4 Disco Boy 8-1
#10 Noble Hawk 8-1
#7 War Destiny was distanced against maiden special weight opposition at Santa Anita but he drops sharply in grade and should give a great sight fresh. #4 Disco Boy has shown ability in trackwork while #10 Noble Hawk gets a handy claim and should be kept safe.
#8 Perfectly Majestic 6-1
#11 Son of War 9-2
#4 Back to Bako 8-1
#8 Perfectly Majestic rallied for a strong win on the downhill turf course at Santa Anita last month and can go on with it here. #11 Son of War is drawn poorly but looms as a danger third-up. #4 Back to Bako has only missed a place once in three starts over this distance and should be thereabouts.
#7 Pretty N Cool 5-2
#5 Imflatoutsweet 8-1
#6 Dreamy Art 10-1
#7 Pretty N Cool is training well and comes from a yard who has an excellent record with first starters. Ticks many boxes. #5 Imflatoutsweet and #6 Dreamy Art the dangers.
#6 Turnover 7-2
#7 Top Fortitude 6-1
#5 Cautious Giant 8-1
#6 Turnover resumed with a dominant display at Los Alamitos and the added distance here shouldn’t worry him. #7 Top Fortitude has class on his side but the 2014 Woody Stephens runner-up makes his first start in over a year and might need the outing. Look for #5 Cautious Giant to be charging late.
#7 Her Emmynency 3-1 (Best Bet)
#2 Sunset Glow 5-2
#6 Paulina’s Love 8-1
There was plenty of merit to #7 Her Emmynency’s first-up win at Arlington as she had to wait on a run. Missed the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf last season due to colic. #2 Sunset Glow’s form around Lady Eli reads well for this while #6 Paulina’s Love should be prominent.
#10 Ultimate Luck 12-1 (Longshot)
#2 Secret Command 3-1
#3 Rebel Rebel 8-1
#10 Ultimate Luck returns to dirt while dropping significantly in grade. Go close if he reproduces his second-up effort. #2 Secret Command didn’t have much luck last time at Santa Anita when steadied and is worth another chance. #3 Rebel Rebel trained well here Tuesdayand is not without hope.
#6 Air Pocket 7-2
#10 Pretentious 9-2
#9 Box Score 10-1
#6 Air Pocket found the line strongly last outing and can break through here. #10 Pretentious has been racing well and should be in the finish again. #9 Box Score is nicely bred and his trackwork suggests he can run a race on debut.
