On this Martin Luther King Jr. day at Aqueduct, we’ve got special FREE analysis of the whole card from William Gotimer (@WilliamGotimer).
William is the producer of the “Racetrackers” radio show, and is making his Danonymous Racing debut this afternoon. Give him a twitter follow when you get a chance.
Take it away, William!
Race 1 – Aqueduct’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day starts out with maiden claimers going a flat mile. LATE NIGHT KISS (3) stretches out from the inside after showing speed in last and is taken to upset CURIOUSERANCURIOUSER (7) who figures to be odds-on while taking the biggest class drop in racing. ENTICING EVENING (2) has been close and adds blinkers from the rail.
Race 2 – A 6 furlong claiming race for non-winners of 2 lifetime. REDNECK GOLD (2) is always right there and adds blinkers and tries a new pilot. She is the value play over odds-on favorite IF YOU BELIEVE (8) who was unlucky in her return at Laurel – hard to gauge. YOURCREDITISGOOD (6) improved in last and could step up.
Race 3 – A spring for maiden claiming fillies. COURTMEWITHCARATS (7) drops in class for a new barn that aggressively places its horses. SPECIAL RISK (1) finds herself in a maiden claimer which is a far cry away from the Grade 1 race she tried in Saratoga and considering she goes for Rudy Rodriguez she figures to be the favorite but Rodriguez is having a bit of a dry spell and this favorite could be vulnerable. SHESMYHEARTANDSOUL (2) tried routing to no effect and returns to a sprint for a rider that gets the best out of his horses.
Race 4 – Same condition as the second race sees claiming fillies who have not won twice. MARY PRAY FOR US (7) didn’t care for the wet track in last and if you ignore that race she is the clear choices. Rider is back in New York with a vengeance. OCEAN CONQUEST (8) will be on the engine at a big price and is not out of the question. COTTON CANDY CUTIE (4) adds blinkers and figures to be involved at the finish.
Race 5 – They run the Grade III Toboggan for the 124th time and it is a re-run of the Gravesend, with 4 of the 7 entrants coming out of that race. LIFE IN SHAMBLES (7) made a premature move in that one and with an outside draw and a 7-pound weight advantage is given a good chance to upset the favorite STALLWALKIN’ DUDE (6) who is in very sharp form right now. STORY TO TELL (3) wouldn’t be the first Rudy Rodriguez new acquisition to continue notable improvement.
Race 6 – An odd condition in low level claimers who haven’t won 3 times going a mile. This is a race that is ripe for long priced horses. Both betting choices RESILIENT ONE and SATURDAY BLISS have huge question marks and could find them themselves off the board. I’ll look for MADISON BLUES (2) to repeat win last month. NORDIC BORD has been freshened and could fire again. MEGAN’S MUSE (7) could close late if the race falls apart.
Race 7 – NY bred fillies in for a quarter tag highlights a full field. SPLENDID GOLD (1) takes the big class drop has the rail and a hot rider and should prove to be a worthy favorite. AWESOME NEWS (6) lost at odds-on in the mud and returns with top rider. Main threat. DREAMBOAT ANNIE (4) goes first off the claim for a trainer that improves his claims.
Race 8 – NY bred non-winners of two going a distance of ground. Five of the 7 entrants come out of the same race which was contested in the mud. YOUNG ANNA LEE (3) was favored in that race and on a dry track I think she is the one to beat. LUTHERAN MISS (4) ran well to be second in that race and figures the main contender. HOT HOUSE ROSE (1) becomes the choice if the track comes up wet again.
Race 9 – Lower level claiming fillies and mares going a mile ends the day. Prolific winner NATALIE VICTORIA (8) gets the nod out of sheer persistence. CAN CAN BABE (9) is the one to beat first off the claim. MY WILD GATA (2) retains a top rider and can pick up the pieces if the top two duel each other into submission.
