2015- Catch a Glimpse
2014- Lady Eli
2012- Stephanie’s Kitten
Chad Brown has won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf three times in his illustrious career, all with a very distinct path to the race. In 2008, the inaugural running and his first BC win, Brown captured the race with Maram, hoisting the trophy for the first time after a heartpounding stretch drive with Heart Shaped.
In 2014, Brown sent out superstar and future HOFer Lady Eli to a dominant victory, and just last year sent out New Money Honey to win another thrilling rendition, who has since captured the Belmont Oaks Invitational. Three winners of this race, all with a similar stepping stone; the Miss Grillo at Belmont.
Fast forward to today and Chad sends out another filly whose path has followed the pattern of his three winners, Significant Form. The Creative Cause filly crossed the wire first on debut and was disqualified. Undeterred, the beautiful gray filly came back to register a powerful win as the even money favorite in the Miss Grillo and has thrived in the morning since. The workout she registered on 10/21 was stellar and has me excited to watch her strut her stuff at 8-1.
This race is not that simple however. Happily and September are two quality fillies hailing out of the O’Brien barn and Chad has another in Rushing Fall. Happily is a multiple Gr.1 winner while September is multiple Gr.1 placed. This race is quality as it has been every year and I look forward to watching another thrilling rendition.
