Hey guys its my favorite time of year….BREEDERS CUP time. Lately I have not been writing for the website, as I am now an agent over at Parx. However, I am making an appearance this weekend to cover one race. The DIRT MILE. Now lets get started.

I like 6 horses in this race but I will only talk strongly on my top 4.
1st Choice – #8 Accelerate; Accelerate is my top choice because I think the two probable “winners” (Mor Spirit and Sharp Azteca) have some vulnerability going in to this race. Accelerate has run his best races since the addition of blinkers, but however he also loves and I mean LOVES Del Mar, and this distance. Bettors should get him as 3rd choice and maybe even 4th in my opinion and that is odds I love to see.
2nd Choice – #3 Sharp Azteca; Now I said Sharp Azteca is a tad vulnerable in this race, but that doesn’t mean I tossed him from my picks, in fact I still think he might be the best in the race despite the vulnerability. What I found to be a little sketchy with this colt is that he has yet to win a G1, and has yet to run at Del Mar and only went west once and ran 2nd in the Malibu which to me might be one of his best races. He might be the fastest but the classiest is in the air.
3rd Choice – #6 Mor Spirit; Mor Spirit is a question mark for me. When a horse especially one of this caliber, wins by 6 1/4 in a G1 beating Sharp Azteca and earning a 117 beyer for Bob Baffert, takes a 4 month layoff, questions need to be answered. The workout tab of consistent 6F works means that he is in shape, and I have no doubt in Baffert to have him ready. The layoff is the only reason I used him in 3rd.
4th Choice – #10 Practical Joke; Practical Joke is my personal favorite but the 2 turn mile is my concern. The mile is not the problem with him but the fact that he is 5 for 5 going 1 turn and 0-5 going two turns sparks some questions for me.
Honorable Mentions – #5 Awesome Slew and #9 Battle of Midway
